Kathryn McWaters, RDN

Director of Partnerships

Kathryn brings compassion and a comforting presence to her counseling sessions, where she supports clients as they learn to nourish themselves through all of life’s seasons.

Kathryn McWaters (formally Kathryn Phillips) is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and certified Pilates Instructor (PMA®-NCPT) who is firmly committed to providing weight-inclusive, identify-affirming nutrition care. She also loves to bring health care providers together to build community, expand perspectives, and improve client care.

Kathryn completed her dietetic internship at Lipscomb University, where she also earned her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics as a Board of Trustees Scholar. Outside the classroom, she has worked as a movement teacher and certified Pilates instructor (PMA-NCPT®) for several years, and uses this knowledge often. Kathryn’s interest in dietetics grew during her time as a professional ballet dancer, where she saw the negative impact narrow body standards can have on health and well-being. Her awareness continues to expand as the result of knowledge shared by health justice experts. Kathryn works to pair clients’ lived experiences with her own expertise to provide evidence-based, person-centered care.

Kathryn focuses on supporting clients with eating disorders (ED) and body image challenges, but also loves working with people from a variety of backgrounds with diverse nutrition counseling needs. In addition to partnering with clients in ED recovery, Kathryn enjoys providing nutrition therapy to people managing complex medical conditions, folx navigating pregnancy/postpartum, families exploring challenging feeding dynamics, and athletes learning to honor their bodies' needs. In addition to her clinical work, Kathryn helps NNP build authentic relationships with local organizations and health care providers so that we can increase access to weight-inclusive nutrition care.

Originally from California, Kathryn soaks up every bit of sunshine. When she’s away from the office, you’ll find her tending to her (too) many plants or strolling through one of Nashville’s many farmers markets.
